Description

The University of Cincinnati’s Hoxworth Blood Center seeks a Clinical Lab Scientist to perform quality control testing on blood products in a 2nd shift Quality Control Laboratory. The scientist will conduct complex hematology and immunohematology assays, validate instruments, analyze and document results, and ensure compliance with FDA, AABB, CLIA, and CAP standards. The role supports research-driven, student-centered initiatives, collaborates with clinical and academic teams, and contributes to safe transfusion practices and continuous process improvement within a leading educational medical environment.
Perform routine and complex quality control testing on blood components and related samples
Analyze, interpret, and accurately document laboratory results in the LIS and records systems
Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment
Ensure compliance with FDA, AABB, CLIA, CAP, and institutional quality standards
Participate in quality assurance, proficiency testing, and continuous process improvement activities
Collaborate with clinicians, researchers, and lab staff to support transfusion safety and research initiatives
Follow and update standard operating procedures and maintain detailed documentation
Adhere to all safety, biohazard, and infection control protocols in the laboratory
